On February 26, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The President of Uzbekistan warmly congratulated the President of Turkey on his birthday, sincerely wishing him good health and great success, as well as peace, wellbeing and prosperity to the fraternal Turkish people. The role of President Erdogan in ensuring sustainable development of Turkey at the present stage, increasing the country’s prestige in the international arena was emphasized.

The Presidents discussed the current issues of the bilateral and regional agenda.

The leaders noted with satisfaction that regular contacts at the highest level contribute to maintaining high rates of multifaceted cooperation in the difficult conditions of the pandemic.

The President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to his colleague for the support and practical assistance of the Turkish Government in the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection in Uzbekistan.

The course of implementation of priority joint projects in trade, industry, energy, infrastructure, transport, agriculture, educational and cultural-humanitarian exchange programs were also considered.

The importance of further formation of favorable conditions for the growth of the trade turnover and investment was noted, including the early preparation and adoption of an Agreement on preferential trade. Interaction is intensifying on the study and implementation of advanced Turkish experience in improving the investment climate, advancing the industrial development of regions, and effectively organizing the activities of special economic zones.

The heads of state noted the importance of implementing significant projects in education, cinematography, culture and tourism.

The leaders also discussed the schedule of the upcoming bilateral and multilateral events and contacts at various levels, including the progress in preparations for the upcoming summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

The conversation between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkey took place in a traditionally open, friendly and confidential atmosphere.
