Easing the lockdown requires increased individual responsibility

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has held a video meeting on measures to create decent conditions for citizens of Uzbekistan working abroad.

The discussion began with the analysis of the epidemiological situation in our country.

The number of people who recovered from COVID-19 has grown significantly as a result, it was noted, of a sharp swell in the efforts to combat the coronavirus in July and August. In particular, the proportion of those who got well over the past five days increased from 77 to 87 percent. The number of patients receiving treatment has dropped from 7 thousand to 4 thousand.

This is undoubtedly the outcome of a selfless endeavors of our doctors.

“Let me repeat: the health and life of every citizen is critically important for us. We are doing everything possible to protect our people from the threat of coronavirus; we are introducing the most advanced treatment practice,” the head of state told the video session participants.

The President informed that about 40 highly qualified specialists from Russia and 10 from China have arrived in Uzbekistan, and that they would be distributed among the regions and begin to treat patients and train colleagues on the ground using cutting-edge methods.

As Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed, lockdown has been relaxed in our country in order to make life easier for the people and as a response to citizens’ appeals, but simultaneously the risk of virus contagion will significantly rise due to the greater presence of people in public places.

With this in mind, the task was set to explain among the general public the importance of maintaining vigilance and caution, strict adherence to requirements to protect oneself and family members from the virus, as well as provide practical assistance and maintain oversight of the compliance with established rules.

“Iron discipline must remain the primary tenet for every one of us. Enterprises, organizations, agricultural and construction sites, transport and public places should also strictly hold on to these requirements,” the President insisted.

The head of our state pointed out that hokims of all levels, heads of sectors, of the systems of healthcare, mahalla, internal affairs et al bear personal responsibility for the epidemiological situation in their pertinent regions and spheres.
