ISRS hosted a meeting with the Ambassador of Pakistan

On 21 January 2026 at the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a meeting was held with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ahmed Farooq.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Pakistani cooperation were discussed, including in the context of preparing and substantively shaping the agenda of the upcoming high-level talks.

It was noted that at the present stage, relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan have reached the level of strategic partnership and are characterized by a stable positive dynamic. The discussion emphasized that bilateral interaction continues to develop consistently across a wide range of areas, acquiring specific practical content.

Special attention was given to the fact that recently Uzbek-Pakistani relations have gained additional momentum. This is largely due to the alignment of the strategic interests of the two states, the high level of mutually trusting and constructive relations between the leaders of the countries, as well as the existence of a continuous and institutionally established political dialogue.

During the meeting, the importance of maintaining and expanding regular contacts between leading analytical and research centers of both countries was underscored. The significant role of think tanks in forming expert support for bilateral cooperation, in developing coordinated approaches on current regional and international agenda issues, and in facilitating the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level was also noted.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to hold a series of joint events aimed at providing additional impetus to the development of Uzbek-Pakistani relations, including along the lines of expert and analytical dialogue.
