ISRS experts discuss 2021 cooperation plans with Japanese diplomats

ISRS hosted a meeting with the Charge d'affaires ad interim of Japan Atsushi Suda.

The participants of the meeting analyzed the state of cooperation in 2020 and exchanged views on promising directions for the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Japan for the coming years.

Atsushi Suda, highly appreciating the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis as a strategic program document for the country’s development, focused on the importance of the tasks set in it.

It was emphasized that the reforms carried out under the leadership of Uzbekistan President in the socio-economic, legal, and other spheres are in demand in the current conditions of overcoming the negative consequences of the pandemic. The firm readiness of Tokyo to provide full support to Tashkent in their implementation was expressed.

According to the Japanese diplomat, Tashkent’s proactive and dynamic foreign policy contributed to the positive changes in Central Asia and outlined clear vectors for establishing close good-neighborly relations with neighboring countries and partners around the world.

At the meeting, the dynamics of strengthening the multifaceted Uzbekistan – Japan partnership was emphasized. As Atsushi Suda noted, despite the coronavirus pandemic, Japan and Uzbekistan were able to adapt to new realities and maintain a high level of collaboration.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to intensify the expert dialogue in the new year and hold events to exchange views on a wide range of issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda.
