On September 17, as part of the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the United States of America, a presentation of the book "New Uzbekistan: The Path of Shavkat Mirziyoyev" was organized at the UN headquarters in New York. The book was authored by the renowned political scientist, senator, and chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, Kudratilla Rafikov.
The event brought together around 100 participants, including UN officials, heads of diplomatic missions, as well as representatives of the analytical community, civil society, and the media.
During the presentation, the focus was placed on the key directions and stages of the development of New Uzbekistan. It was emphasized that the reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev represent a long-term, carefully calibrated strategy aimed at the systemic and comprehensive renewal of all spheres of state and public life.
Eldor Aripov, Director of ISRS, delivered a report on the practical implementation of this strategy. He noted that “modern Uzbekistan is defined not by what it was ten years ago, but by what is being built today – functioning institutions, borders open to trade and interaction, broad access to education, targeted support for socially vulnerable groups, and the strengthening of women’s role in society.”
The ISRS Director emphasized that “the changes in Uzbekistan have provided a powerful impetus for the transformation of the entire Central Asian region. An open and dynamically developing Uzbekistan is becoming the main driving force of dialogue and partnership in the region.”
At the same time, the expert noted that Uzbekistan’s active foreign policy is not limited to regional initiatives. The country seeks to make a constructive contribution to the work of the United Nations, promote peace and sustainable development, and support the reform of the global governance system aimed at enhancing its fairness, efficiency, and inclusiveness. Thanks to this approach, Uzbekistan has established itself as a reliable international partner, committed to the principles of cooperation, dialogue, and shared responsibility.
The presentation included insightful discussions, during which UN leadership and heads of diplomatic missions acknowledged that the country's national reform agenda is consistent with the goals and objectives of the UN. The political course of the President of Uzbekistan aligns seamlessly with the Organization's priorities: protecting human rights, promoting the rule of law, supporting sustainable development, and expanding citizen participation in decision-making processes.
In his address, UN Assistant Secretary-General M. Jenca emphasized that the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev represent "an example of transformation that combines political courage, strategic forethought, and social focus." He emphasized the uniqueness of the Uzbek experience, which lies in its systematic nature: "changes are being implemented simultaneously in all key areas – from public administration and justice to education, healthcare, and digitalization."
Overall, the event confirmed that the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan are widely recognized and receive strong support from the international community.
