Eldor Aripov delivered a lecture at UWED on Trans-boundary Threats in Central Asia

On 26 November 2025, Eldor Aripov, Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS), delivered a lecture at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) on Trans-boundary Threats in Central Asia.”

During the lecture, students were presented with key development trends in Central Asia, emerging challenges and opportunities faced by the region’s countries amid the evolving geopolitical landscape, as well as priority areas for interstate cooperation.

Particular attention was given to a comprehensive analysis of transnational threats, including the consequences of climate change, the growing shortage of water resources, the rise of terrorism and extremism, and the spread of illicit drug trafficking.

The lecture also covered the outcomes of the recent Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia held in Tashkent, including a detailed review of the initiatives put forward by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The topic sparked strong interest among students: they actively participated in the discussion, asked questions, and shared their perspectives – giving the event an interactive and open character.

Overall, the lecture helped students gain a deeper understanding of the pressing challenges facing Central Asia and the evolving dynamics of regional cooperation.
