International Conference “Water for land reclamation, water supply of branches of the economy and the environment under climate change”

ISRS expert participated at the International Conference “Water for Land Reclamation, Water Supply for the Economy and Natural Environment under Climate Change” (November 6-7, Tashkent), organized by the Network of Water Management Organizations of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia (NWO EECCA).

The NWO EECCA was established on December 11, 2008 in Moscow to exchange views, experiences, and information on various aspects of water management. The network is being developed with the active participation of the Scientific-Information Center of the Interstate Coordination Water Commission of the Central Asia, JSC “Vodstroy” and the support of the Government of the Russian Federation and the UNECE in close coordination with the International Network of Basin Organizations.

Participants of the conference held an exchange of views on the problems of land reclamation, water supply of economic sectors and the environment under climate change. During the event N.Shokhimardonova, chief research fellow of ISRS, delivered a presentation on “Initiatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan to mitigate the Aral crisis”. At the end of the event, participants agreed that the measures should be taken to intensify efforts to raise the level of regional and interregional cooperation for water conservation and rational use of transboundary water resources.
