ISRS hosted a meeting with the delegation of the “Germany - Central Asia” Parliamentary Group of the Bundestag

On April 30 this year at the Institute for Strategic and Regional studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS), a meeting was held with a representative delegation of the “Germany - Central Asia” Parliamentary Group of the Bundestag, led by a member of the CDU/CSU faction of the German Parliament, Manfred Grund.

The sides discussed in detail the development of Uzbek-German cooperation, prospects of regional interaction in Central Asia, as well as Uzbekistan's approaches in the Afghan direction.

It was noted that mutually beneficial and partnership relations between the countries are rapidly developing. This is largely facilitated by the intensification of political contacts at the highest and high levels.

Separately, the regional policy of Tashkent was touched upon, which, according to Manfrend Grund, changed dramatically with the arrival of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. “Thanks to the intensification of cooperation between Uzbekistan and neighboring countries, the region is experiencing an unprecedented level of cooperation. This, in turn, gave impetus to strengthening the partnership in the Central Asia + Germany format,” said the German parliamentarian.

The German guests especially emphasized that Germany fully supports the efforts of the Central Asian states to deepen intraregional cooperation in economic, energy, environmental and other spheres.

Speaking about Uzbekistan's approaches to building relations with Afghanistan, the parliamentarians emphasized Tashkent's efforts to involve the country in regional economic ties and promote educational projects for Afghan youth.

At the end of the meeting, German side expressed interest in expanding long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of agricultural development, introduction of water-saving technologies, mitigation and adaptation to the effects of climate change.
