President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to pay an official visit to Tajikistan

On June 10-11 this year, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, will pay an official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan.

The program of the visit includes bilateral events in the city of Dushanbe – official meeting ceremony, contracted format and expanded meetings, an online ceremony of the opening of social facilities, the signing of bilateral documents.

It is planned to discuss the current issues of further strengthening bilateral friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership. The main attention will be paid to identifying new growth points for multifaceted interaction and promoting specific projects for the development of practical cooperation in the long term. The leaders will also exchange views on aspects of international politics and the regional agenda.

The heads of state will take part in joint cultural events in the capital of Tajikistan, hold a meeting with public representatives, and visit several industrial facilities in Sughd region.

Following the events, it is planned to sign over 30 documents covering important areas of mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

It should be emphasized that in recent years, Uzbekistan – Tajikistan relations have entered a qualitatively new stage – the level of strategic partnership, filled with specific practical content.

Relevant issues of developing collaboration between the two fraternal countries and peoples were resolved on the initiative and thanks to the strong political will of the leaders.

The trade turnover is growing and last year exceeded $500 million. Over 200 joint ventures have been created. Intensive exchange in the humanitarian sphere, fruitful contacts between the regions are being carried out.

In the difficult conditions of the pandemic, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have shown solidarity and mutual assistance in overcoming the consequences of the coronavirus.

A meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission led by the prime ministers of the two countries, a scientific and practical conference, Uzbek Cinema Days and other events were successfully held to prepare for the upcoming summit. The first Interregional Forum and a meeting of the Business Council will also take place on the eve of the visit.
