President of Uzbekistan holds a phone call with the President of Russia

On May 7, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia exchanged heartfelt congratulations and warm wishes on the occasion of the 76th Anniversary of the Victory over Fascism.

It was emphasized that the great feat of the peoples of the two countries, who heroically fought shoulder to shoulder on the battlefield and selflessly worked in the rear, will forever remain in the grateful memory of descendants.

Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Vladimir Putin considered the current issues of further strengthening Uzbekistan – Russian strategic partnership and alliance.

The dynamic development of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in the difficult conditions of the coronavirus pandemic was noted with deep satisfaction.

Active contacts continue at all levels, with the participation of leading Russian companies and banks. Large cooperation projects are being implemented in the main sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan. In April this year, the International Industrial Exhibition “Innoprom. Big Industrial Week in Uzbekistan” was successfully held in Tashkent. It was organized on a large scale outside of Russia for the first time.

The need for joint adoption of additional measures to increase the trade turnover was noted.

Inter-parliamentary exchanges are expanding, important educational, cultural and humanitarian programs are being implemented.

The Presidents exchanged views on the current issues of the international agenda and regional interaction, including within the CIS, the SCO and the EAEU.

The schedule of the upcoming events was also reviewed. An agreement was reached to continue the active preparation of the agenda of the planned summit meetings.

The conversation took place in a traditionally warm, friendly and businesslike atmosphere.
