Leaders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan hold a phone call

On April 30, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

The heads of state discussed the situation on Tajikistan – Kyrgyzstan border.

The President of Uzbekistan supported the agreements reached by the Tajik and Kyrgyz sides aimed at the earliest settlement of the current situation and prevention of its escalation.

The importance of resolving all existing issues exclusively through negotiations and consultations in the spirit of friendship, good neighborliness and partnership was emphasized.

The Presidents also considered the course of preparation for the upcoming high-level visit to Tajikistan. The fruitful results of the working meeting of the prime ministers of the two countries, which took place last week in the city of Khujand, were noted with satisfaction.

The importance of joint identification of new growth points of full-scale cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan for the long term was emphasized.
