Experts of the Institute of Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has held a meeting with the representatives of the Central and Eastern Europe department of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Daniel Reichart and Dr. Sonja Schirmbek in Berlin.
The Friedrich Ebert Foundation is the oldest German political foundation associated with the Social Democratic Party of Germany. It was established in 1925 as the political legacy of Friedrich Ebert, Germany’s first democratically elected President. It is mainly focused on implementation of fundamental democratic values.
ISRS experts informed representatives of Foundation about ongoing reforms in the framework of “The Strategy of Actions on Five Priority Directions of Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021 years”.
The German side highly evaluated the importance of ongoing political, social and economic reforms in Uzbekistan. It was underlined that positive transformations in all spheres of life in the largest country of the region are an important factor for long-term stability in Central Asia.
Sides agreed that in the new conditions, the urgency of building up Uzbek-German relations in the political and diplomatic sphere, expanding mutual trade, implementing investment projects, and strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties is increasing. The intensification of bilateral cooperation will contribute not only to the socio-economic growth of Uzbekistan, but also to the sustainable development of Central Asia and Afghanistan.
The parties noted the well-established cooperation between ISRS and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Regional Office for Central Asia. The sides has expressed their interest in working together on organizing meetings with the experts from Central Asia and Europe, publishing scientific publications, and carrying out current political research.
