ISRS and CGSS Pakistan organized an online scientific conference with the participation of professors from Pakistani universities, where they discussed the importance of reconnecting Central and South Asia.
Executive Director of Center for Global & Strategic Studies (Pakistan), Khalid Taimur Akram, speaking at the online scientific conference organized by ISRS and CGSS on February 15, 2022, emphasized the importance of restoring the interconnectedness between Central and South Asia.
According to him, today Uzbekistan, under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is actively promoting and implementing the initiative to integrate South and Central Asia.
Thanks to the strong involvement of the leaders of Uzbekistan and Pakistan, there is a real opportunity to restore the historical interconnectedness between our regions”, he said.
At the same time, as the head of the CGSS emphasized, it is important to unite Uzbek-Pakistani efforts, expand and deepen interregional interconnectedness to further promote stabilization on Afghanistan taking into account the strategic importance of Afghanistan for ensuring the security and sustainable development of Central and South Asia.
In this context, he noted that Tashkent and Islamabad are jointly developing positions on key issues of regional and international security.
This trend is long-term and in the near future will form a new geopolitical transformation of the region, the Pakistani expert concluded.
The event was attended by professors from Peshawar and Punjab universities. The Uzbek side was represented by experts from ISRS, Center for Economic Research and Reforms, Institute of Arts and Culture, Institute for Research of the Youth Problems and Training Prospective Personnel, International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
