Meeting with experts from the French Development Agency

On November 14th at the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan took place a meeting with the experts of the French Development Agency (FDA). During the conversation, the French side was informed about the implementation of the Strategy for Action, the priorities and principles of the internal and foreign policy of the country, international initiatives of Uzbekistan, including resolving the situation in Afghanistan.

The European side emphasized the intensive development of the Uzbek-French relations after the meeting of the leaders of the two countries in France on October of this year. French experts noted that the agreements and intergovernmental documents signed, including the Cooperation Program for the implementation of infrastructure projects between Uzbekistan and the FDA during the visit of President Sh. Mirziyoyev to Paris, became a new stage of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

According to them, there is a growing interest in France in ongoing large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan, primarily in the areas of economic liberalization and currency regulation. Given this trend, the French side expressed interest in building up cooperation through implementation of joint infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan.

At the end of the meeting, the representatives of the French side noted that they are ready to work closely with the state institutions of Uzbekistan to identify prospective areas which need more investment assistance in order to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation between the parties.
