On February 7 of this year, a round table was held in Tashkent on the topic “International Year of Peace and Trust: Turkmenistan’s Contribution to Global and Regional Cooperation.”
The event was organized by the International Institute of Central Asia jointly with the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Representatives of analytical centers and academic circles of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the diplomatic corps of the countries of Central Asia, Western Europe, the South Caucasus, Russia and Belarus took part in the round table.
The participants discussed in detail the efforts of Turkmenistan and other Central Asian states to promote the principles of peace and trust in the international arena, as well as measures to develop practical cooperation in ensuring regional stability and security.
The head of the ISRS Center Murad Uzakov spoke at the session dedicated to Turkmenistan's contribution to global stability and cooperation. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of strengthening political dialogue in the world.
As the expert noted, today the modern system of international relations is going through a difficult period of profound transformation. Crisis tendencies in the international arena are aggravating, mistrust and confrontation between global players are growing.
According to him, the UN General Assembly Resolution adopted last year at the initiative of Turkmenistan, proclaiming 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust, is very relevant and in demand. He emphasized that today such initiatives are needed, allowing to establish a dialogue aimed at maintaining the ideals of peace and peacebuilding, as important factors in ensuring sustainable development.
The expert noted that the UN's support for the Turkmen initiative indicates that it meets the aspirations of the international community and, in general, the interests of humanity and future generations. In addition, according to Murad Uzakov, the document fully reflects the approaches of the Central Asian states to strengthening security, stability and sustainable development of the region.
It was emphasized that today the Central Asian countries not only put forward initiatives, but also actively make a practical contribution to the promotion of principles and solution of peacebuilding tasks. Global and regional platforms have been created, important forums and conferences are regularly organized, at which the parties develop specific recommendations and measures to strengthen trust, security and joint development.
According to the expert, today it is important for the countries of Central Asia not to stop at the results achieved, to continue to gradually build a sustainable architecture of regional and international cooperation and strengthen dialogue, unity, cohesion and solidarity.
Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of the efforts of Central Asian countries in strengthening international security and cooperation, as well as the need for further support and promotion of peace initiatives.
At the end of the round table, the participants highly appreciated the discussion that took place, noting the relevance of strengthening peace and stability at the global and regional levels. They expressed their readiness to hold such meetings regularly.
