ISRS hosted a meeting with a British expert

On 24 July this year at the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan a meeting was held with Professor of Oxford University Peter Frankopan.

During the conversation, the sides discussed the situation in Central Asia, the state and prospects for the development of regional processes, as well as Uzbekistan's policy of strengthening good-neighbourliness, friendship, mutual trust and understanding in the region.

The sides noted that today Central Asia has turned into a stable and steadily developing space of mutually beneficial cooperation. The steady dynamics of regional rapprochement has a positive impact on the economic growth of the countries of the region.

It was noted that by taking advantage of competitive advantages and complementarity of economies, the countries of the region are consistently developing industrial cooperation, making full use of their powerful resource potential and human capital.

As a result, today Central Asia is becoming a center of attraction for investments, a point of concentration of economic and diplomatic activity. These processes attract close attention of the international community and researchers.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed interest in the further development of expert dialogue and organization of joint events on current issues on the regional agenda of mutual interest.

Peter Frankopan is a respected British historian specialising in the history of the Mediterranean, Russia, the Middle East, Persia, Central and South Asia, as well as the study of cultural links between regions and peoples.

He is also the author of the best-selling book series, The Silk Roads: A New History of the World, which explores the origins of the Silk Road from Asia to Europe. In addition, P. Frankopan participated in the development of the analytical report of the British Parliament regarding Central Asia, published at the end of 2023.
