On July 3, 2025, an online meeting of representatives of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS) and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) took place. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Kingdom of Sweden Rakhmatulla Nurimbetov also took part in the dialogue.
During the conversation, the First Deputy Director of the ISRS Akramjon Nematov informed the foreign party in detail about the current processes taking place in Central Asia, as well as about the main priorities of Uzbekistan within the framework of the chairmanship of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. It was noted that, first of all, Tashkent's efforts will be focused on deepening political dialogue and strategic trust in order to further strengthen stability, security and sustainability in the region.
Special attention was paid to the prospects for cooperation between the research and analytical structures of the two countries. The parties discussed possible areas of cooperation on issues of promoting regional cooperation. SIPRI representatives highly praised the experience of Central Asia in resolving transboundary issues and establishing an atmosphere of good neighborliness in the region, and also expressed interest in establishing ties with ISRS and participating in upcoming events.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on developing dialogue and developing specific formats for interaction between think tanks.
