On November 29 this year, Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies (ISRS) under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Eldor Aripov met with the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Sabine Mahl.
Eldor Aripov took this opportunity to congratulate Sabine Mahl on her appointment as UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan. The ISRS Director expressed conviction that her many years of experience in the system of international organizations will give a new impetus to the further development of relations between Uzbekistan and the UN.
The guest expressed support for the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, aimed at radically improving the situation and raising the status of women in society. "The opening of the UN Women office in Uzbekistan will be evidence of the country's commitment to the empowerment of women," said Sabine Mahl.
The UN Resident Coordinator also noted Uzbekistan's efforts in the Afghan direction. "I saw this with my own eyes during a recent trip to the border trade zone - the Termez International Trade Center," she emphasized.
The parties paid special attention to discussing issues of further mutually beneficial cooperation between ISRS and the UN. Interest was expressed in establishing research links for the preparation of analytical reviews in the field of sustainable development, as well as interaction in the field of advanced training of personnel.
