Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan Leaders discuss practical cooperation issues

On December 24, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The Head of the state cordially congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on his 60th birthday, sincerely wishing him health, wellbeing and great success, as well as peace and prosperity to the fraternal Azerbaijani people.

The leaders discussed the current agenda of strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

The positive dynamics of the development of trade-economic ties were noted with satisfaction: the indicators of mutual trade are steadily growing and the cooperation of leading enterprises is expanding. An industrial exhibition in Baku and a regular meeting of the joint Business Council were successfully held this month. Intensive exchange continues within the framework of the bilateral cultural-humanitarian program.

The Heads of state emphasized the importance of early promotion of practical cooperation projects in priority sectors and directions, including in mechanical engineering, energy, agriculture, transport and logistics.

Views on regional policy and cooperation within the framework of international organizations were also exchanged. The schedule of the upcoming events was considered.

The telephone conversation took place in a traditionally warm and friendly atmosphere.
