Leaders of Uzbekistan and Russia discuss the main results and plans for the development of cooperation

On December 30, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Warmly welcoming each other, the leaders of Uzbekistan and Russia exchanged heartfelt congratulations on the upcoming new year 2021. Expressed sincere wishes for peace, wellbeing and prosperity to two friendly peoples.

It was noted with deep satisfaction that in the difficult conditions of the global spread of coronavirus, the two countries provided mutual comprehensive and practical assistance in the fight against the pandemic, overcoming the consequences of the global economic and epidemiological crisis. At present, the possibilities of cooperation for the production of the Russian vaccine in Uzbekistan are being actively explored.

Despite the current situation and temporary difficulties, active exchanges continued at all levels. A noticeable increase in the indicators of bilateral trade has been achieved, several large joint projects in industrial cooperation and programs of cultural and humanitarian collaboration have been launched.

The Russian Federation has provided significant support to the first successful chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the CIS, as well as to the granting of the Republic of Uzbekistan the observer status at the Eurasian Economic Union.

The leaders confirmed their determination to continue to make joint efforts for strengthening Uzbekistan – Russia friendship, strategic partnership and alliance.

An agreement was reached on the thorough preparation of bilateral and multilateral events included in the schedule for the next year.

Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia also exchanged views on the current issues of international politics and regional cooperation.

The telephone conversation took place in a traditionally warm, open and friendly atmosphere.
