On April 7 of this year, a meeting was held at the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS) with the regional manager of the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) for Central Asia – Irina Ulmasova-Olive.
During the talks, a substantive exchange of views took place on the current situation and prospects for developing partnership within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between ISRS and GCERF in November last year.
Issues of implementing joint initiatives in the field of rehabilitation and social adaptation of repatriated citizens, as well as coordinating efforts to combat extremism and terrorism were discussed. In this context, the possibilities of providing grants to Uzbekistan were considered.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in key areas of partnership.
For reference: GCERF is an international organization headquartered in Geneva, founded in 2014 with the aim of countering terrorism and facilitating the rehabilitation of repatriates. The fund implements projects in 25 countries. The total investment volume is more than $200 million. The GCERF board of directors includes representatives of more than 20 countries, including the EU, the USA, Qatar and Australia.
