On April 8 this year, a meeting was held at the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with representatives of the Peace Nexus Foundation – Deputy Director Mads Frilander and Central Asia Senior Programme Officer Nazgul Aksarieva.
The guests highly appreciated the progress achieved in resolving border issues in Central Asia. In particular, it was noted that the trilateral summit in Khujand, as well as the signing of the Treaty on the Junction Point between Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and the Declaration on Eternal Friendship following it, testify to the readiness of the parties to transform state borders into a zone of peace, stability and joint development.
In this context, Mads Frilander emphasized that the successful experience of Central Asia in building regional cooperation can serve as an exemplary model of multilateral interaction for other countries and regions.
The parties also discussed in detail the issues of establishing cooperation between ISRS and the Peace Nexus Foundation. Mutual interest was expressed in organizing joint events in the field of ensuring peace and development of the Fergana Valley.
The Peace Nexus Foundation is a Swiss non-profit organization founded in 2009. It works in 4 regions of the world: the Western Balkans, West Africa, Southeast Asia and Central Asia. The Foundation supports the construction of sustainable peace by providing expert support to various peacebuilding actors. It actively cooperates with the UN.
