On June 20, 2025, a working meeting was held between the Director of the ISRS Eldor Aripov and the delegation of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) headed by the Coordinator for Central Asia Serhan Aktoprak and the Chief of the IOM office in Uzbekistan Andrew Gray.
During the meeting, Serhan Aktoprak gave a high assessment of the transformations underway in Uzbekistan. According to him, "the dynamism of reforms in the country is impressive". He welcomed Uzbekistan's readiness to interact with international organisations in the field of migration regulation.
The parties discussed possible prospects for expanding co-operation between ISRS and IOM. They expressed mutual interest in conducting joint research, organising seminars and round tables on climate migration, preventing radicalisation among those temporarily leaving for work abroad, introducing digital monitoring systems, and improving the vocational education system.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen mutually beneficial partnership and to consider signing a relevant Memorandum of Cooperation.
