ISRS held a meeting with the Ambassador of Singapore to Uzbekistan

On June 20, 2025, ISRS Director Eldor Aripov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Singapore to Uzbekistan Zulkifli bin Baharudin.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Singapore diplomat praised the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan. "The structural changes initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev are creating a modern investment environment and opening up new opportunities for international business," the Ambassador stated.

Zulkifli bin Baharudin expressed Singapore’s fundamental interest in developing mutually beneficial and comprehensive cooperation with Uzbekistan and implementing the agreements reached during the official visits of the leaders of the two states.

During the meeting, mutual satisfaction was expressed with the strengthening of political dialogue and inter-parliamentary ties, the implementation of mutual support at international venues, the intensification of contacts in the area of ​​public security, as well as the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties.

In recent years, bilateral trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Singapore has doubled. The number of enterprises with Singaporean capital in Uzbekistan has quadrupled to 250 companies. The volume of direct investment has exceeded $700 million, covering such strategically important sectors as the chemical industry, textile production and the agro-industrial complex.

There is great untapped potential in such promising areas of cooperation as human capital development, training of highly qualified personnel, poverty reduction, introduction of “green” technologies, modernization of healthcare, and adaptation to climate change.

During the talks, an exchange of views on expanding and deepening relations between ISRS and scientific, academic and think tanks in Singapore took place. The importance of intensifying expert interaction in order to develop new ideas and proposals for further strengthening multifaceted cooperation between the countries was noted.
