Uzbek delegation held a series of meetings with leading Chinese think tanks in Shanghai

On March 24, 2025, as part of the visit of the Uzbek delegation to China, the director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS) Eldor Aripov held a series of meetings with the heads of leading scientific and analytical centers of the PRC.

Negotiations were held with representatives of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai International Studies University, and the Shanghai Academy of Global Governance and Area Studies at Shanghai International Studies University.

During the talks, attention was focused on the prospects for the development of Uzbek-Chinese relations. The participants noted with satisfaction the growing dynamics of trade and investment cooperation. China is the leading trading partner and the largest investor in the economy of Uzbekistan. According to the results of last year, the volume of mutual trade reached 12.5 billion dollars, and the share of China in Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover was 19%. Over the past 8 years, the volume of Chinese investment has increased many times over, exceeding 18 billion dollars. Today, there are 2,600 enterprises with Chinese capital operating in the republic.

During the meetings, an exchange of views on deepening relations between ISRS and scientific, academic and analytical centers of China also took place. The parties expressed interest in developing a regular expert dialogue to find new growth points in all areas of Uzbek-Chinese partnership.
