President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has met with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon during the Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, in Ashgabat.

The Heads of state discussed issues of further strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The importance of building up full-scale trade-economic cooperation was emphasized.

The main attention was paid to the implementation of promising cooperation projects in industry, energy, agriculture, transport, tourism and other priority sectors. Important programs of cultural-humanitarian exchange were noted.

The Leaders also exchanged views on the development of the situation in the Central Asian region.
