Shavkat Mirziyoyev visits the Tourism Center in Samarkand

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the construction of a tourism center in Samarkand district.

The complex is being built on an area of 212 hectares on the coast of the rowing canal in Samarkand district. According to the project, the complex will consist of 10 facilities, including a congress hall, hotels and recreation areas.

The construction of a congress hall, the “Eternal City” caravanserai and 8 hotels is currently underway. Two 22-storey hotels will be five-star, the rest will be four-star.

Despite a large number of hotels in Samarkand, there is a shortage of accommodation during the peak season. This situation was observed, for example, in 2019, when all hotels in the city were fully loaded. At the same time, the great opportunities created by the state for the development of tourism, the introduction of a visa-free regime for citizens of about 90 countries stimulate further growth in the flow of tourists.

The center under construction will become a tourist hub. Necessary conditions will be also created for holding international events. The center is scheduled to be commissioned in 2022.

The President was provided with information about the possibilities of the new tourism center, the services that will be provided to guests. The Head of the state instructed to effectively organize the management of the center, train specialists in tourism.

Projects for the development of tourism infrastructure in Samarkand were also presented.

It was noted that the first gastronomic street appeared in Samarkand, and the first tourist village in “Konigil” citizens’ assembly in Samarkand district. These facilities not only extend the time spent by tourists in the region, but also contribute to the development of local infrastructure, create sources of additional income for the population.

The President also examined the overpass connecting the tourism center with the city, landscaping work carried out on Usta Umar Jurakulov and Afrosiab streets.
