President becomes acquainted with promising projects in the chemical industry

On March 29, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev became acquainted with the presentation of projects implemented in the chemical industry.

Uzbekistan has great potential for deep processing of hydrocarbons and minerals, production of import-substituting and export-oriented products. Uzkimyosanoat JSC is implementing 21 projects in these areas worth $1 billion 355 million.

Eight projects worth about $60 million will be completed this year. New enterprises in Karakalpakstan, the city of Tashkent, Navoi, Jizzakh and Tashkent regions will master the production of 11 new types of products, set up manufacturing products worth 450 billion UZS per year, which will replace imports by $15 million and ensure exports of almost $30 million. These enterprises will employ 260 people.

Feasibility studies are currently being developed for 18 projects worth more than $2.6 billion.

In general, as a result of the projects planned for this year and the future, the production capacity will reach $3 billion and the export potential of the industry – $1.3 billion. About 3,500 people will be employed at the new enterprises.

Another important aspect is that after the launching of enterprises, the volume of production based on deep processing of natural gas will exceed $2.1 billion. That is, the added value will increase by 14 times.

It is planned to create 3 large technological clusters in Navoiazot, Ferganaazot JSCs and Karakalpakstan to create capacities for the production of high-demand products based on chemical raw materials and semi-finished products.

16 projects worth $2.6 billion will be implemented in Navoiazot, 4 investment projects worth $334 million – in Ferganaazot, and 3 investment projects worth about $687 million – in Karakalpakstan.

The Head of the state focuses on the integration of science and industry. Therefore, it is planned to create a scientific-chemical cluster in Ulugbek village. It is planned to build administrative and educational buildings, laboratories, Uzbekistan – Korea scientific center, housing for researchers, a hostel, an amphitheater, a park and a solar power plant on an area of 60 hectares. 8 thousand students can also study here.

The scientific cluster will also include Tashkent Chemical-Technological Institute and production laboratories in Chirchiq.

“We have allocated very large funds for the chemical industry. Energy-efficient technologies were introduced. Now it's time for this industry to create added value. There are great opportunities for this. If we put in order the quantitative and qualitative indicators, the price policy in each direction, exports will grow by 5-6 times”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

It was noted that it is necessary to develop new projects for manufacturing products that are in demand by economic sectors and business entities.

Information was also provided on the work to reduce the state’s share in chemical enterprises, their transformation, and the introduction of international standards of corporate governance and financial reporting in the industry.

Tasks were set to change the structure of Uzkimyosanoat JSC, to train qualified personnel.

The results of the inventory of drinking water supply networks and highways were also considered at the meeting. It was noted that this year 7,184 kilometers of water pipes will be laid, reservoirs and pumping stations will be built, and 1,106 mahallas will have access to drinking water. As a result, the water supply to more than 4 million people will improve. This year, 16.8 thousand kilometers of roads will also be repaired.

The President gave instructions on the introduction of international experience, reducing the cost of construction, ensuring high-quality operation, taking control over the targeted and effective spending of funds.
