President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Shahidlar Khotirasi (Memory of Victims) Alley in Tashkent in the early hours of August 31 and took part in the commemoration ceremony of repression victims.
Surahs from the Holy Koran were recited in memory of the sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the people. By tradition, a memorial pilaf was served.
Next to the symbolic tombstone on the alley President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a conversation with aksakals, religious figures and representatives of the intelligentsia.
It was noted that much attention in Uzbekistan is paid to the study of the life and legacy of heroic ancestors and the perpetuation of their memory. It is important to value the peace, freedom and prosperity prevailing in our country, to strive to develop all areas, guided by the principle “Heart with God, hands in labor”, to foster the younger generation as broad-minded patriotic personalities.
