China’s President congratulates the President of Uzbekistan on a convincing victory in the elections

On October 27, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.

The President of China cordially congratulated the President of Uzbekistan on the successful holding and convincing victory in the Presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It was noted that the results of the vote once again demonstrated the broad support of the country's population for the ongoing development strategy of the new Uzbekistan and the foreign policy course to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign partners.

China’s President sincerely wished good luck and new success to the Leader of Uzbekistan, as well as well-being and prosperity to the friendly Uzbekistan people.

The Presidents considered current issues of further strengthening the strategic partnership.

The current level of trust-based dialogue, the progressive development of bilateral ties and the intensification of mutual exchanges in accordance with the agreements reached during the high-level contacts in April this year were noted with deep satisfaction.

In the political sphere, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan expressed unwavering support for the “One-China policy” and resolute struggle against the “three forces of evil” – terrorism, extremism and separatism.

In addition, gratitude was expressed to the Chinese side for the great practical assistance in countering the coronavirus pandemic, including timely deliveries and joint production of vaccines.

In turn, President Xi Jinping stressed that China firmly supports the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Uzbekistan, as well as the ongoing program of socio-economic transformation in the country.

In the trade-economic sphere, the Leaders noted a noticeable increase in the indicators of trade turnover. To promote the supply of demanded products to the Chinese market, primarily agricultural goods, an agreement was reached on Uzbekistan's active participation in the Fourth International Exhibition of Imported Goods to be held in November this year in Shanghai.

The main attention was paid to the preparation of a five-year Program of trade-economic cooperation, with the inclusion of strategic projects, including in the field of innovation, artificial intelligence, digital technologies and e-commerce.

The exchange of experience and knowledge in poverty reduction issues was identified as a key area of interaction. The main attention was paid to the practical implementation of the provisions of the Memorandum signed by the authorized agencies of the two countries this month.

The Leaders of Uzbekistan and China called for the development of a system of efficient transport routes linking China with our region and forming the Eurasian Transcontinental Transit Corridor within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative.

Opportunities for enhancing cooperation in science and education, healthcare and vaccination of the population, sports, tourism, culture and other areas were noted.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely wished his colleague and friendly people of China a successful holding of the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022.

An agreement was reached to hold a meeting of Uzbekistan – China Intergovernmental Committee before the end of this year, as well as to prepare a joint program to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The President of Uzbekistan and the President of the People's Republic of China also exchanged views on the international agenda and issues of regional connectivity.

The President of Uzbekistan supported the Global Development Initiative forwarded by the Leader of China at the United Nations General Assembly.

The parties agreed to continue a close dialogue within the framework of the activities of the World Health Organization and other UN institutions.

The Chinese Leader expressed full support for Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The Heads of State also considered the issues of establishing lasting peace and economic development in Afghanistan. They agreed to continue the dialogue within the SCO and other formats to assist the Afghan people.

Following the conversation, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Xi Jinping warmly exchanged wishes for peace, prosperity and progress to the two friendly peoples and countries.

The conversation took place in a traditionally open, trusting and friendly atmosphere.
