ISRS Deputy Director Bobur Usmanov noted that this event is being organized as part of the practical implementation of the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, put forward at the Dushanbe Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States on September 17, 2021.
At the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan, emphasizing the key priorities of intensifying efforts to ensure peace and stability in the SCO space, noted the importance of ensuring regular discussion of the current situation, agreeing on joint measures to counter challenges and threats, including in the information field.
“In this regard, the Head of our state proposed to hold an SCO Expert Forum on Information Security. This will allow us to develop coordinated measures to adequately respond to modern threats and challenges in cyberspace”, said the ISRS Deputy Director.
According to Bobur Usmanov, the SCO member states have significant potential in ensuring information security. “According to the 2021 Global Cybersecurity Index, Russia and India are in the top ten, while China and Kazakhstan are among the 40 countries. The index takes into account legal, technical and organizational measures, as well as development potential and cooperation with other states”, he said.
