Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies held a meeting with the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Ashita Mittal. Talks focused on the socio-political and economic reforms in Uzbekistan, as well as on current conditions and perspectives cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN Office on drugs and crime.

A.Mittal highly appreciated efforts of Uzbekistan in implementing comprehensive internal reforms and conducting pragmatic, proactive and constructive policy towards the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan.

According to A.Mittal, leadership of the UN Office on drugs and crime is interested in expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan in preventing drug trafficking. She offered to hold a joint "round table" to discuss issues of combating drug production in Afghanistan.
