Expert circles of Uzbekistan and China discuss prospects for developing bilateral interaction

Uzbekistan delegation led by the Director of the Institute of Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Eldor Aripov visits Beijing to attend a conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

During the visit, several meetings were held with the heads of leading analytical centers in China.

The Deputy Director of the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia (IREECA) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Jin Zhe received the Uzbekistan delegation. 

ISRS and IREECA have maintained active working contacts since 2000. In 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the institutes. The parties regularly hold joint expert meetings and annual events within the framework of the SCO and the Central Asia – China format.

Negotiations were held with the President of the China Institute of International Studies Chen Bo.

China Institute of International Studies is one of the leading analytical structures under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. It studies the problems of international politics and the world economy and prepares analytical documents on security, politics, and economics.

A meeting was held with the leadership of the Institute for the Social Development of Europe and Asia Li Yongquan.

The Institute for the Social Development of Europe and Asia, founded in 1989, is one of the leading international research institutes in China. The Institute studies contemporary problems in the Eurasian space and reports directly to the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

During the conversations with Chinese experts, views were exchanged on the prospects for the development of relations between Uzbekistan and China. Particular attention was paid to the intensive political dialogue at the highest level and friendly and trusting contacts between the heads of the two states.

The high efficiency of the recent state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to China was emphasized, following which the relations were brought to the level of an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era.

Touching upon joint projects, the importance of signing an agreement on constructing the China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway was noted. According to Chinese experts, this transport corridor’s practical implementation will further deepen bilateral relations. It will also have a multiplier effect on developing the economies of all countries in the region.

In addition, the parties focused on the Uzbekistan – China expert dialogue. They emphasized that over the past seven years, more than 40 joint events and over 50 meetings have been held.

The successful holding of the 19th session of the SCO Forum and the 4th Central Asia – China Forum in Tashkent on June 4-5 this year was noted with satisfaction. Confidence was expressed that regular dialogue and exchange of views on current issues of the bilateral and regional agenda will contribute to strengthening multifaceted cooperation.

As part of the negotiations, the parties also discussed current issues of the regional and international agenda of mutual interest.
