The Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the researchers of the Korean Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP).
KIEP was founded in 1989 as a leading government economic research institute. The main task of KIEP is to provide information and analytical support as well as advice to the Korean government on key issues in the sphere of world economy. In 2018, KIEP took the 33rd place in the ranking of the best “think tanks” in the world, and the 3rd in Asia.
During the conversation, two sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea. The discussion focused on identifying additional opportunities and potential to develop bilateral indicators in trade, economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Furthermore, sides paid particular attention to the issues of strengthening the cooperation between the think tanks of the two countries. KIEP delegation expressed interest in organizing a joint research event with the ISRS in the future. Korean experts noted the importance of establishing a dialogue between expert communities for development of new proposals aimed at deepening the strategic partnership between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
