The ISRS held a meeting with the Deputy secretary of state, political director of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Latvia, Jānis Mažeiks. During the conversation, two sides discussed prospects for Uzbek-Latvian cooperation, as well as expansion of multilateral relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union.

J.Mažeiks noted that Riga is observing with great interest large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan and positive dynamics of cooperation that are taking place in recent years in Central Asia. 

The Latvian side positively assessed the development of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Latvia. Guests noted importance of increasing volume of trade, cooperation in such fields as transport-communications, economics and education.   

At the end of the meeting, European partners expressed interest in enhancing cooperation between the research centers and institutions of Uzbekistan and Latvia.
