New directions of Uzbek-Turkish interaction have been discussed at ISRS

On November 24 Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the adviser of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Turkey Ali Ihsan Chaglar and the head of the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination in Uzbekistan (TIKA) Jemalettin Tuney.

It was emphasized that the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkey in November 2021 to participate in the summit of the Organization of Turkic States and his talks with the head of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave an additional impetus to the strengthening Uzbek-Turkish relations.

A.Chaglar highly appreciated the consistent large-scale reforms carried out under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev aimed at modernizing the economy and liberalizing the social and political life of Uzbekistan.

The diplomats stressed the Foreign policy of Tashkent to strengthen friendly relations with all countries of the region, as well as the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the socio-economic reconstruction of Afghanistan.

Guests in this context highlighted the efforts of the Uzbek side to provide humanitarian aid to the neighboring country, as well as the assistance to international organizations in supporting the Afghan people. According to Turkish diplomats, the establishment of The United Nations logistics hub in Termez in September 2021 played an irreplaceable role in this.

The importance of joining efforts in promoting significant infrastructure and humanitarian projects was explicitly acknowledged in view of Turkey's interest in stabilizing Afghanistan.

At the end of the conversation, the parties expressed their intention to hold joint meetings of ISRS experts with Turkish partners to exchange views and develop new ideas to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
