On August 29, 2025, the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS) hosted a working meeting with Yeraly Beksultan, Senior Specialist at the World Bank’s Uzbekistan Office.
The discussion focused on strengthening expert cooperation on economic reforms, with particular emphasis on supporting entrepreneurship. Participants reviewed ongoing programs aimed at developing small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Since 2017, Uzbekistan has taken significant steps to liberalize its economy and promote private business. The meeting highlighted that SMEs have become a key engine of economic growth and a crucial factor in ensuring social stability.
The conversation also underscored efforts to expand economic opportunities for women. This year, the government allocated USD 200 million to support women’s initiatives, targeting job creation, professional and entrepreneurial skill development, and social programs for those in need.
Both sides agreed to deepen expert collaboration and share analytical materials. There was mutual interest in organizing joint seminars and training programs to bring advanced entrepreneurial practices into wider use.
