ISRS hosted a meeting with the Delegation of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies

On September 13, 2025, Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies (ISRS) Eldor Aripov met with President of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) Chen Dongxiao.

During the talks, the parties discussed pressing issues on the global and regional agenda. A productive exchange of views took place on the prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and China within international organizations, as well as in the “China–Central Asia” format.

The participants of the meeting noted with satisfaction the similarity of positions of the two countries on key international and regional issues. Particular emphasis was placed on the shared approaches to promoting the stabilization of the socio-economic situation in Afghanistan.

Touching upon other aspects of bilateral cooperation, Chen Dongxiao stressed that Uzbekistan’s proactive foreign policy has contributed to the intensification of integration processes in Central Asia and to strengthening the role of the region on the international stage.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to further develop cooperation between ISRS and SIIS. They confirmed their mutual interest in organizing regular meetings and joint events on topical issues such as climate change, green energy, and transport.

Founded in 1960, SIIS is one of China’s largest and most reputable think tanks. The Academy conducts research on key issues of international politics, economics, and security. Cooperation between ISRS and SIIS is based on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in September 2012.
