On April 23 of this year at the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS) held a meeting with representatives of the Center for International Relations (CSM) - Director of CSM, Professor of Warsaw University Malgorzata Bonikowska and her deputy Michal Smagowicz.
During the negotiations, the Polish side was informed in detail about the socio-political and socio-economic reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, the proactive open foreign policy being implemented, including the regional agenda in Central Asia.
Particular attention was paid to the prospects for Uzbek-Polish relations. It was noted that the strategic interest of Polish business circles in cooperation with the countries of Central Asia, in particular with Uzbekistan, is growing. According to M. Bonikowska, “Uzbekistan, thanks to its geostrategic position, could become a bridge in the export of Polish products to the markets of Central Asia, and Poland could become a gateway for Uzbek goods to enter European markets.”
During the conversation, the parties also exchanged views on the development of relations between the ISRS and the CSM. The parties expressed interest in holding joint events aimed at developing proposals in the field of mitigation and adaptation to the effects of climate change, green energy, agricultural development, and digitalization.
CSM is the oldest Polish independent think tank specializing in research on Polish and EU foreign policy. Founded in 1996.
