
On December 4, 2025 at the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS) a meeting was held between the Director of the Institute Eldor Aripov and Professor Brianne Todd of the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA).
At the beginning of the conversation, the parties discussed the results of the recent C5+1 summit, noting its importance for strengthening the partnership between the countries of Central Asia and the United States. Professor Todd praised Uzbekistan's participation in the multilateral dialogue, emphasizing the positive international response to Tashkent's initiatives, which form a solid foundation for trusting and constructive cooperation in the region.

Speaking about prospects for further cooperation, the NESA expert emphasized Uzbekistan's growing role as a key hub for regional cooperation. "New initiatives and projects being implemented in the country could provide additional incentives for high-level visits and expanded cooperation," she emphasized.
Particular attention during the discussions was also given to cooperation in the areas of water security, climate change, rational use of natural resources, and environmental sustainability. The participants agreed that the involvement of American research institutes and technology companies could significantly expand the programs implemented in Uzbekistan in these areas.
Expanding scientific and expert collaboration between the ISRS, the Atlantic Council, and US think tanks was also discussed. In this regard, experts emphasized the importance of strengthening international awareness of the reforms and transformation processes taking place in Uzbekistan and Central Asia as a whole.
In the context of regional security, particular attention was paid to the situation in Afghanistan. Eldor Aripov noted Uzbekistan's commitment to promoting a policy of open and pragmatic dialogue with the Afghan authorities, aimed at ensuring long-term stability in the country. In turn, Brianne Todd emphasized that Tashkent's consistent and balanced policy toward Afghanistan plays a crucial role in strengthening security and sustainable development in this strategically important region.
At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to strengthening their long-term partnership and implementing new joint initiatives. Specific areas for further cooperation were identified, including expert visits, the exchange of analytical materials, and expanded participation in international formats.
