On January 29 of this year, Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS) Eldor Aripov held a meeting with President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Gao Xiang.

The meeting was held in an open and substantive dialogue format, during which the parties discussed a wide range of current issues on the international agenda.

The participants addressed key challenges related to the transformation of global politics and the world economy, as well as global challenges in the field of technological development.

During the talks, Gao Xiang highly praised the consistent efforts of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at introducing advanced solutions into the economy and the public administration system. He noted that the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan in the areas of innovation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity are laying a solid foundation for sustainable and long-term development.

Particular attention was paid to expanding scientific, expert and analytical interaction between specialized research centers of the two countries.

In this context, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the activities of the Uzbek-Chinese Expert Council, established in 2024 by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies (ISRS) in cooperation with the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). It was emphasised that the Council’s first meeting, held in March 2025 and dedicated to issues of climate change and the development of the green economy, confirmed the high practical relevance of this cooperation mechanism.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that the further development of scientific and expert ties will contribute to the expansion of practical cooperation and the realization of the long-term interests of Uzbekistan and China.
