On June 4, 2025, a meeting with the co-founder of the New Eurasian Observatory and doctoral student of the Europe-Eurasia Research Center of the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations Michael Leviston was held at the Institute of Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS).
During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and France, as well as issues of regional cooperation.
The interlocutors noted the progressive development of relations between the countries and the signing of the Declaration on Strategic Partnership in March 2025 during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Paris. It was emphasized that the effective partnership mechanisms created at the parliamentary, governmental and industry levels form a solid basis for further deepening and expanding mutually beneficial ties between the states.
Particular attention was paid to promising areas of cooperation. The parties noted that cooperation in such areas as education, green energy, climate change, will contribute to the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
M. Leviston highly appreciated the consolidation of the Central Asian region and the role of Uzbekistan in this process. "Tashkent acts as an engine of integration in Central Asia," the expert believes. In this context, the guest expressed the opinion that the successful experience of Central Asia in building regional cooperation can serve as an exemplary model of multilateral cooperation for other regions of the world.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further deepening partnerships between the analytical centers of Uzbekistan and France. Confidence was expressed that expanding partnerships at the expert level would contribute to deepening mutual understanding and developing coordinated approaches to key issues on the bilateral and regional agenda.
The National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilazations (INALCO) is one of the leading universities in France and Europe in the field of research and study of oriental languages. INALCO teaches 93 languages and has more than 9,000 students. The Institute has about 200 partnership agreements with educational institutions in more than 100 countries.
