The parties discussed the results of the extensive reforms carried out in Uzbekistan. It was emphasized that the country has undergone a radical transformation over the past few years. The economy is developing dynamically, new opportunities for entrepreneurs are being created, and measures for the social protection of citizens are being improved.
Particular attention was paid to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s regional policy. Thanks to the course on good neighborliness and dispute settlement, Central Asia is becoming an increasingly consolidated and stable region.
Taking into account the GCSP’s mandate, Thomas Greminger expressed interest in implementing projects aimed at promoting the strengthening of regional cooperation in Central Asia in close collaboration with the ISRS. Particular interest was shown in strengthening the connectivity between Central and South Asia and finding acceptable solutions for integrating Afghanistan into regional economic ties.
Mutual interest was also expressed in organizing internships for ISRS employees at GCSP and establishing cooperation in training personnel in international relations.
