On the "round table" of the Asia-Pacific region in Malaysia

From 7-9 May 2018, a trip of the director of the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov to Kuala Lumpur took place to participate in the 32nd Asia-Pacific regional "round table" on "Split: people, technologies, power and security. " The event was attended by political figures, experts from research institutes, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps and business circles from more than 40 countries.

The main themes of the round table were global and regional challenges and threats in the context of creating a new architecture of geopolitics, economics and security of the states of Western, Northeast and Southeast Asia, the possible consequences of the abolition of the status quo and/or its preservation in the region, as well as new aspects of foreign policy The Asian continent in the era of digital information.

The participants of the meeting were informed about the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan by the President of Uzbekistan Sh.Mirziyoyev within the framework of the "Strategy for further development of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021", as well as the principles and priorities of the new foreign policy vector of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the visit, a number of bilateral meetings were held with the leadership of the Institute for Strategic and International Studies of Malaysia (ISMM), the Asian Institute of Strategy and Leadership (AICL), the National University of Malaysia, and the Institute of Islamic Civilization, during which the interlocutors expressed interest in deepening cooperation with Uzbekistan. As a result of the negotiations, Memoranda of Understanding were signed with the leadership of ISMM and ASIL. Participation in the ceremony of awarding certificates for students of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who completed an internship at the National University of Malaysia.
