On April 29, ISRS Director Eldor Aripov met with Pakistani experts General Ehsan ul Haq and Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery, President of the Center for Global and Strategic Studies, who came to Uzbekistan as international observers of the referendum on constitutional reform.
During the talks, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Pakistan relations and the development of interconnectedness between Central and South Asian.
President of the Center for South Asian and International Studies of Pakistan Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery noted the high dynamics of development of Uzbek-Pakistan relations in various fields of interaction and remarked that Uzbekistan remains a reliable and important partner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Central Asia.
General Ehsan ul Haq emphasized that the Pakistani side welcomes the referendum on constitutional reform, which ultimately guarantees the irreversibility of the process of democratic transformation initiated in Uzbekistan.
According to him, this is a significant moment and the most important political step for further stable development and prosperity of Uzbekistan.
The participants of the meeting agreed that there are great prospects for development of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
At the same time, one of the priority issues is Afghanistan, on whose peaceful and sustainable development the stability and security of Central and South Asia depend.
In conclusion, the parties agreed to continue regular contacts between the think tanks of the two countries.
