On March 14 this year at the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS), a meeting was held with representatives of the international non-governmental organization (INGO) “Regional Dialogue” – executive director Katya Gershak and deputy head of the branch in Uzbekistan Bekzod Sharipov.
A detailed exchange of views took place on ongoing reforms in the field of protecting human rights and ensuring the rule of law in Uzbekistan. Issues of developing regional cooperation in Central Asia were also discussed.
The parties discussed the prospects of establishing bilateral interaction between ISRS and INGO "Regional Dialogue".
Katya Gershak highly appreciated the implementation in our country consistent measures to ensure the rights and interests of citizens, expanding access opportunities to justice, favorable conditions for the free functioning of civil society institutions.
In turn, the guests were informed about the priorities of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy, including those aimed at strengthening peace and stability in Central Asia. Representatives of the INGO “Regional Dialogue” were also informed about the efforts of the country’s leadership to ensure religious tolerance and prevent extremism, and the development of the state’s secular policy as part of the implementation of constitutional reforms.
