ISRS hosted a meeting with an Austrian expert

On October 28 this year, a meeting was held at ISRS with Martin Sajdik, a member of the board and senior adviser to the Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES), who arrived in Uzbekistan as an international observer for the parliamentary elections.

The main topics of discussion were the prospects for the development of Uzbek-Austrian relations, cooperation within the European Union, as well as the establishment of closer ties between the analytical centers of the two countries.

Martin Sajdik spoke positively about the changes taking place in Uzbekistan at the present stage. According to him, the organization of the electoral process also demonstrates the success of the reforms carried out in our country.

Tashkent's regional policy was touched upon separately, which, according to the Austrian expert, created broad opportunities for establishing close relations with neighboring countries. "It allowed not only to establish good-neighborly relations, but also to unite efforts to solve common regional problems," said Martin Sajdik.

According to the analyst, against the background of the increased attention of large EU countries towards the Central Asian states, it is necessary to expand cooperation with Austria in such areas as hydropower, medicine, agriculture, environmental protection and industrial processing.

In this regard, mutual readiness was expressed to establish a regular dialogue that would allow for the exchange of experience and opinions in all areas of mutual interest.

AIES is an independent and non-profit research institute founded in 1996. The Center studies issues of security, defense and foreign policy.
