The ISRS held a meeting with delegation of the National Institute for Defenсe Studies under the Ministry of Defenсe of Japan led by senior research fellow, Hiroshi Yamadzoe. During the talks, the parties discussed ongoing socio-political and socio-economic reforms in the Republic, as well as the current state and prospects of development of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Japan.
Dr. Yamadzoe highly appraised the efforts of Uzbek leadership aimed at implementing comprehensive reforms within the country and promoting a pragmatic, proactive and constructive foreign policy. It was noted that the liberalization of the national economy and further strengthening the democratic institutions in Uzbekistan will create new opportunities for expanding the agenda of bilateral relations, deepening trade-economic and investment cooperation.
Moreover, the parties discussed problems of stability and sustainable development in the Asian regions. The sides exchanged views on the challenges and threats transformation of the international security in modern conditions.
Experts of the two countries noted the need for intensifying scientific and research contacts by holding subsequent meetings. Both sides expressed interest in establishing cooperation between the ISRS and the NIDS.
